Good morning! When I got up this morning I did my usual routine and marched down the stairs to the kitchen to prepare my cup of coffee. Some mornings it is from the espresso machine, which is quick. Other mornings it’s a pour over, so I am at the kitchen window with the hummingbird feeder for a longer period of time, which is what today’s coffee prep was. As I stood pouring the hot water over the filter, I watched five hummingbirds eating out of the feeder at the same time for over one minute. Five was a record!! Unfortunately, when I moved to get my camera they exited the feeder. I’ll keep an eye out today and maybe have a photo for an upcoming post to show you I’m not lying…like the Buffalo, NY cop department or the POTUS. You see the camera doesn’t lie. I would bet you have seen the video or read about the 75 year old man in Buffalo who was shoved by a Buffalo police officer in riot gear during demonstrations on Thursday. Initially the cops said the man fell, but had to take that lie back after video showed the man being shoved to the ground and then blood coming out his ears. The camera doesn’t lie. This morning I see we have another General “stepping up to the plate.” General Colin Powell, a former secretary of state and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, called Trump a liar in an interview with Jake Tapper on CNN. “He lies. He lies about things. And he gets away with it because people will not hold him accountable.” I just don’t understand how lying has become an accepted behavior in society today. When I was a kid, if I lied I first got my behinder whacked with a wooden spoon (Mom) or belt (Dad), and then had to go to Confession and tell the priest, “Bless me Father for I have sinned…” Our friggin’ leader tells more lies in one day than I probably have in my lifetime, but he sure does like reading the Bible. Yea, Right.

So, in yesterday’s post I talked about it being a historic week with all of the events we saw happening and wrote about some of the events in negative terms. Today, I would like to look at the week from a different perspective…it was a week that just might bring some hope that changes are ‘a comin’. Isn’t that why all of those folks are in the streets across America? Not the looters and criminals trying to take advantage of the situation, but the people who are demonstrating for a change from injustice to equitable, righteous, and moral justice; affirming our freedoms, such as the freedom to protest; showing empathy for the families who have recently lost family and friends to the horrors of brutality. Beyond the burned buildings, looting, violent and criminal behavior by some in the crowds, it was a beautiful thing to witness. I’m sorry that it took the death of George Floyd for America to say that ‘enough is enough, this has to stop.’ And then when tRump said that George was having a great day up there and looking down at the great job numbers, the collective shock to that statement by the POTUS came from all over the country. The messages coming from the generals is another positive this week. When “his” generals start speaking out about the improper use of the military against American citizens and you see statements like, “We are witnessing the consequences of three years without mature leadership,” then you know that sane people are starting to get fed up with what this guy is doing to America and the revolution may lead to the downfall of the “Emperor.” Even the secretary of defense showed he had come cojones defying his boss and sending troops back to their bases. To end the week, on Friday the Portland Press Herald in Maine wrote an editorial asking the President to resign. It begins with, “President Trump: We’re sorry that you decided to come to Maine, but since you are here, could you do us a favor? Resign.” And the editorial ends with, “America needs to heal again. What a week it has been. One that will probably go down in the history books as a stain on our U.S. Constitution, the foundation of our Federal Government. The purpose of our Federal Government, as found in the Preamble of the Constitution, is to “establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our posterity.” How about them thar apples? In my opinion, events from this week showed a failure on each these foundations by our Federal Government and the tRump administration. Do you think the streets are overflowing in cities across America because justice has been established? No, I don’t think so. The streets are filled because of the history of injustice and oppression. I don’t know about you, but I’m sure not feeling “domestic tranquility” and I don’t think the folks who were in Lafayette Square on Monday were feeling it either. I don’t believe our Founding Fathers meant “providing for the defense” of “Bunkerbitch” by using the United States military against our American citizens. Promotion of the general welfare of American citizens is a primary reason for the creation of the Constitution and concerns providing for the health, peace, morality, and safety of our citizens. What kind of grade would you give our government for it’s actions over the past five months related to the health, peace, morality and safety of it’s citizens? I give it a failing grade. To “secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our posterity” means to protect the nation’s rights for liberty, justice, and freedom from a tyrannical government. I ain’t feelin’ too good about this right now, either. When you have an undisciplined authoritarian ruler who is trying to wield absolute power unjustly, cruelly and oppressively, you move from a democracy to a tyrannical government and that, my comrades, should be a worry for all of us.

Hey, I said it was a hell of a week. We aren’t done talking about it yet, so hang in here a few more minutes. How about our Chief Law Enforcement Officer, Attorney General Bill Barr(f). On Tuesday it was reported that he personally ordered the crowd of protestors be pushed back at Lafayette Square in preparation for tRump’s photo op in front of the church, which he admitted was true leading to headlines like this, ” Barr personally ordered removal of protesters near White House, leading to use of force against largely peaceful crowd.” Well, I guess he has taken more heat than he can stand, so today he is trying to disassociate himself from that move. On Tuesday he was “Mr. Big Man,” acting all macho on us, today he tells the Associated Press, “I’m not involved in giving tactical commands like that.” “I was frustrated and I was also worried that as the crowd grew, it was going to be harder and harder to do. So my attitude was get it done, but I didn’t say, ‘Go do it.’ ” I will say, he is a good student and learns from his mentor, the “stable genius,” how to turn and run when the temperature rises too much.

On Wednesday, General Mattis had had enough and unloaded with his opinion piece in the Atlantic, exhibiting the moral courage to filet #45. This was followed in quick succession by six retired commanders, all either Generals or Admirals, who supported General Mattis’ piece and also took aim at the current Secretary of Defense, Mark Esper, and the current chairman of the Joint Chiefs, General Mark Milley, for joining Trump at the photo op, with Milley doing it wearing his battleground uniform. I’m hoping this will be the start of an uprising to squash “Trump the Poser,” and feel better when I see these officers step up to defend our democracy from you know who.

Okay, I’ve been writing this too long and need to go start making my meatloaf for dinner. I will continue my ramblings about this past week in a continuation either tonight or tomorrow. Does it bother you at all that this current administration thinks the entire country is frigging stupid? I’m going to be nice and won’t speak about Trump supporters, but I will speak about those of us who are free and independent thinkers gathering information and knowledge from a number of sources, not from just one outlet beginning with the letter F. Before I post some of my ramblings, I do fact check and try to be certain I am accurate with what I write. For example, last week I wrote about the young female Navy guard at a Navy Post in Corpus Christi who helped thwart a terrorist from entering the Base. There had been a post on Facebook stating she had been shot (which she was), but then got up and with great resolve walked up to the shooter and put several bullets in his chest, stopping him from entering and killing many soldiers, her supposed name was given with a picture of her standing with a mean looking German Shepard K9. The person who had posted this had made up about half of the story in the FB post, and thankfully I did some fact checking before writing my post with that person’s account. There is currently a meme going around with a photo of Hitler and tRump side by side holding a Bible. Today on several news sites they show the original Hitler photo without him holding a Bible and state that the Hitler photo has been photoshopped into the photo. So all I’m saying is that I do try to make sure my writing is accurate and not from a FB “Share.” A few posts ago I talked about “gaslighting” being a predominant strategy of the tRumpster and his administration and here we go again after the bizarre bible episode photo op on Monday night. What you saw with your own two eyes you didn’t really see. The video that you saw of peaceful protestors at Lafayette Square near the Episcopal church isn’t what you really saw, because according to the White House, the U.S. Park Police were being run over by protestors, so they naturally needed to defend themselves. Multiple journalists observing the protests said the protesters were demonstrating peacefully before the police started pushing people and using their batons and shields, which is supported by hours of video footage. Neither the police nor the White House have provided evidence to back up their claims that protesters were hiding weapons like glass bottles, bats, and metal poles near the park as the Park Police and WH claimed. The tear gas wasn’t really tear gas according to the newest press secretary, Kayleigh McEnany. “No tear gas was used, no one was tear-gassed. … There’s been a lot of misreporting.”  Not only did Journalists on the scene and protesters report seeing chemical irritants deployed and said they experienced symptoms such as coughing and watering eyes as authorities sought to move the protesters back, but a television reporter picked up gas canisters from the street. They think we are stupid and will just keep lying to us.

And y’all know that “Tough Guy Donnie” didn’t hide in the basement bunker, but was just down there inspecting it. And it wasn’t at night when the protestors were screaming at the fences, but during the middle of the day. He had to see what kind of condition Barack had left it in, and, of course, it was a total mess. What a ‘bunkerbitch.”

I told you yesterday that he was going to have his panties in a wad after General Mattis wrote the piece for the Atlantic. The Twitterholic had 75 tweets from midnight to sometime this morning. Not once mentioning George Floyd or his family, but instead tweeting he had “the honor of firing” Mattis, which, according to General Kelly, was a big f…ing lie. Kelly says, “the president did not fire him. He did not ask for his resignation,’ ‘The president has clearly forgotten how it actually happened or is confused.” In my opinion, he’s confused most of the day. I’m sure he tells himself every day, “If I didn’t have those damn bone spurs, I could have been the greatest General in the history of the United States.” “Mattis is just overrated.”

It might just be wishful thinking, but I think that events over the past couple of days are finally leading to the downfall of Mr. Trump. I was talking to my good friend Eduardo last night and I think he summed it up eloquently, “Trump just shit in his mess kit,” referring to the upside down bible episode of Monday night. That stunt was so pathetic that even some evangelicals, like Pat Robertson, are starting to criticize some of Trump’s actions, and the charade did not receive support by all of his allies in congress either. Senator Ben Sasse of Nebraska said “I’m against clearing out a peaceful protest for a photo op that treats the Word of God as a political prop.” I also read an opinion piece yesterday by George Will, a conservative political commentator, in which he said that Trump needs to be removed, as well as his invertebrate congressional enablers, who are characterized as Hollow Men from a poem by T.S. Eliot. Check out the opinion piece and the poem. When you start getting conservative groups like The Lincoln Project, Republican Voters Against Trump, (who say “I’d vote for a tuna fish sandwich before I’d vote for Trump again,”) conservative pastors and televangelists, some ‘Pub’s’ with a backbone, and influential political writers speaking out about this unhinged Crybaby-in-Chief, then you gotta believe the mess kit is starting to get stinky.

I just watched a video that makes me sick. This nation has been in the midst of turmoil for over a week because four cops killed an unarmed black man in Minneapolis on Memorial Day in view of the world. We’ve all been watching the protests and looting and speeches that are a result of that terrible murder. We’ve seen videos and heard from different law enforcement officials that seem “to get it.” Videos of cops taking a knee with protestors, marching arm in arm with demonstrators, holding listening sessions with black community members, showing acts of caring and understanding. And then I see this video today from Charleston, South Carolina of a young black man kneeling in front of a line of Charleston cops preaching very calmly to them, telling them “I am not your enemy. All of you are my family. I love each and every one of you. I want to understand all of you. I would love to see the best side of everyone here.” It was beautiful and an example of what working together to change the world is all about. He finishes and continues to kneel before this line of cops and what happens next is what turned my stomach. Cops in the front row of the line move aside to let the biggest one in the group walk up to the young man, handcuff him and arrest him for “disobeying a lawful order.” Curfew began at 6:00 pm and he was arrested at 5:00 pm. It never ceases to amaze me the stupidity of so, so many in this world.

Oh man, get ready for the twitterholic to get his iphone keys smokin’. I just saw former President Obama give a 15 minute unrehearsed, no teleprompter address in a virtual town hall video presentation. He was calm, had cogent thoughts, smiled, was hopeful, and an example of what being presidential means. I then had a notification on my ipad that General James Mattis just had a piece published that absolutely filets number 45. When I read the piece I just smiled because I knew at some point in time General Mattis was going to fire an artillery shell. That time was this afternoon and you know what happens when Donnie is criticized, like Mattis has just done — the anger just boils as he seethes, his bowels get in a magnificent uproar, he attacks. Yippy Skippy, get ready.

The hummingbirds are still depleting our sugar supply, but sure fun to watch. Yesterday was the last day of scallops for $3.99 per pound, so picked up some for dinner and made a Chinese dish that my father-in-law introduced me to fifty years ago —scallop stir fry with vegetables over rice. Yep, my little parody of a Donald tweet in my post on Saturday wasn’t too far off I see. It was reported today that “Mr. Tough Guy” spent some time in a bunker in the basement of the White House on Friday night when protestors were outside the gates screaming at Secret Service personnel and the scaredy cats inside the WH. The Associated Press reports that “the president and his family have been shaken by the size and venom of the crowds,” and that “Trump has told advisers he worries about his safety.” I told the missus on Saturday that we wouldn’t be seeing tRump in public this weekend because as much as he talks macho s**t, he’s just all talk. In my pre-retirement experiences in the schools, I saw many Donald Trump types. Kids who were experts at stirring the pot, bullying those smaller than themselves, talking tough, but then running to the teacher on recess duty and hiding behind them for protection. I keep harping on his lack of leadership in these difficult times and this weekend was an illustration in full color. With the unrest and rioting for three nights in a row happening throughout the country resulting in the loss of life in several cities and billions of dollars in property damage, you would think that the POTUS would be addressing the nation and trying to instill some calm. I love it when even his most conservative allies start piling on him. I particularly liked the comment from Ann Coulter, who wrote a book titled “In Trump We Trust,” “Is it possible Trump has resigned and they just haven’t gotten around to the press release?” “Where’s Waldo tRump?” Oh, here he is,

To look at this from another direction, however, it is probably a good thing that he stayed quiet. When he did have something to say over the weekend through Twitter, it was more inciteful than soothing and calming, such as “THOSE THUGS!,” “Vicious dogs,” “Ominous weapons.” He did come out of the bunker long enough this morning to berate governors during a conference call. Again acting like a tough guy he called the gov’s weak, and if they didn’t use force they would look like fools, calling himself the “Law and Order President.”

Did you ever think that in your lifetime active duty military personnel would be used against fellow Americans? I know I never thought I would see it. That’s what the “Commander-in-Chief” has done today, however, ordering 250 military personnel deployed to Washington, D.C. Sad, very sad.

This was the scene at 9:00 pm last night from our deck as we sat in our adirondack chairs sipping our 2012 Martinez & Martinez cabernet sauvignon from Horse Heaven Hills in Washington, listening to the last chirping of the day from our birdie friends and smelling the citronella candles hoping to ward off the mosquitoes. While we were experiencing this peaceful scene, all hell was breaking loose across the country from D.C. to PDX and many cities in between. The impetus for all of the rioting, of course, was the murder of George Floyd by cops in Minneapolis, but I think it is much more than just that horrific event. Things in this country have reached the boiling point as a result of the pandemic, the breakdown of the economy, mass unemployment, divisions over the lockdowns, the politicizing of face masks, kids out of school looking for some kind of action, far left wingers (Antifa) vs. nationalists (white supremacists) looking for a fight and any excuse to cause havoc, and finally two back-to-back incidents of black men being killed by amped up white men. And the common denominator in all of this is a person in a leadership position, who is not providing leadership, but creating a tinderbox and then stoking the resultant fires. A true leader would be calling for calm right now, not egging on his base by blaming Democrats for all of the rioting, telling “Liberal Mayors and Governors” to get “MUCH Tougher” on the rioters, and suggesting his supporters come to the White House today to basically have a counter demonstration clash. He started this morning with a tweet that is typical for this “little man who would like to be biggly.” “Great job last night at the White House by the U.S. @SecretService. They were not only totally professional, but very cool. I was inside, watched every move, and couldn’t have felt more safe. They let the “protestors” scream & rant as much as they wanted, but whenever someone got too frisky or out of line, they would quickly come down on them , hard – didn’t know what hit them. The front line was replaced with fresh agents, like magic. Big crowd, professionally organized, but nobody came close to breaching the fence. If they had they would have been greeted with the most vicious dogs, and most ominous weapons, I have ever seen. That’s when people would have been really badly hurt, at least. Many Secret Service agents just waiting for action. “We put the young ones on the front line, sir, they love it, and good practice.” In the same tweet he went on to criticize the Washington, D.C. mayor for not letting the D.C. police get involved. Her response was terrific,

My interpretation of his tweet is, “There were some really, really bad people outside my house last night that kind of made me feel afraid. I was all by myself watching from behind the curtains. I wasn’t sure if I was going to wet my pants because they scared me or I was going to get a lil’ stiffy watching all of those cool Secret Service agents out there just for me, me, me — they were there beating people up to protect me, the POTUS, Agolf Twitler. Ooo, Ooo, and the man in charge called me ‘sir’ and told me that if I got too scared they had some mean, mean dogs that would bite the bad people and they would be badly hurt. And then when I saw those fantastic ominous weapons, I sat down on my ruggy and got out my collection of plastic army men and started giving orders like the great leader I am. But then I got bored and twittered that mean girl mayor. Why is that there are so many mean girls out there that keep kicking me in my privates? It’s not fair!!!!!!!”

I took a break from writing a post yesterday, but I’m baaaaack. We’ll start today’s ramble with a definition from dictionary.com. Civil war definition, a war between political factions or regions within the same country. As I mentioned before, it looks like this is where we are headed as the divisiveness builds each day. We have the POTUS (Piece of Totally Useless S**t) today retweeting a video where a supporter declares “the only good Democrat is a dead Democrat,” and suggesting that top Democrats enforcing social distancing will “get to pick your poison: you either go before a firing squad, or you get the end of the rope.” And then we have posts all over Facebook and Twitter that look like this.

Yep if you’re a liberal wussy democrat you go into the store wearing a mask. What gets me, is some of these “we vs. them” posts are from so called Christians. One minute they’re raising hell about the libtard Dem’s and “the only good one is a dead one” and the next minute it’s all about ‘open up the churches, we have to get back to praise our Lord and pray with our neighbors.! How hypocritical. Whatever happened to “Love thy neighbor as thy self” that Sister Amelia taught me at Saturday morning Catechism? Then you have some bully yelling at Johnny Cash’s granddaughter for wearing a mask in a grocery store. This, from her mother, Rosanne Cash.

I just have to share this post that I received from a group today that I think is spot on and worth reading. I’m not sharing it to bash republicans, but to share some facts. I don’t see myself as a republican basher, but I am a tRump basher because I find him to be a despicable human being and cannot believe any respectable person in their right mind would support his antics. Hell, I’ve even voted for some republicans in the past. I also don’t see tRump as a republican, but as an independent whose only ideology is “me, me, me.”

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A REPUBLICAN

Joe gets up at 8:00 AM to prepare his morning coffee. He fills his pot full of good clean drinking water because some stupid bleeding heart liberal fought for minimum water quality standards.

He takes his daily medication with his first swallow of coffee. His medications are safe to take because some nanny state loving liberal fought to ensure their safety and work as advertised.

All but $10.00 of his medications are paid for by his employer’s medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance, now Joe gets it too. He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs this day. Joe’s bacon is safe to eat because some commie liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry.

Joe takes his morning shower reaching for his shampoo; His bottle is properly labeled with every ingredient and the amount of its contents because some socialist liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained. Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some tree hugging liberal fought for laws to stop industries from polluting our air.

He walks to the subway station for his government subsidized ride to work; It saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees. You see, some snowflake liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.

Joe begins his work day; He has a good job with excellent pay, medicals benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joe’s employer pays these standards because Joe’s employer doesn’t want his employees to call the union.

If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed he’ll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some stupid liberal didn’t think he should lose his home because of his temporary misfortune.

It’s noon time, Joe needs to make a Bank Deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe’s deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some liberal wanted to protect Joe’s money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the depression.

Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae underwritten mortgage and his below market federal student loan because some stupid liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his lifetime.

Joe is home from work, he plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive to dad’s; His car is among the safest in the world because some cry baby liberal fought for car safety standards.

He arrives at his boyhood home. He was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers Home Administration because bankers didn’t want to make rural loans. The house didn’t have electric until some big government liberal stuck his nose where it didn’t belong and demanded rural electrification (those rural Republicans would still be sitting in the dark).

He is happy to see his dad who is now retired. His dad lives on Social Security and his union pension because some liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn’t have to. After his visit with dad he gets back in his car for the ride home.

He turns on a radio talk show, the host keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good (the host doesn’t tell Joe that his beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day). Joe agrees, “We don’t need those big government liberals ruining our lives; After all, I’m a self-made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have.”

Those of you who know me know that I am pro law enforcement. What I saw happening by those rogue cops in Minneapolis, however, was a murder right in front of our eyes. The video that was released yesterday by a store surveillance camera does not show George Floyd resisting the officers in any way, shape, or form. And now, the city is being torn apart with rioting over a widespread area with vigilantes calling themselves ‘heavily armed rednecks’ standing guard outside businesses to protect them. You’ve probably seen the meme of Colin Kaepernick kneeling during the national anthem to protest the treatment of minorities alongside the picture of the cop kneeling on George Floyd’s neck with the caption “This…Is Why,” so I won’t post it here. I think Kaepernick is making a mistake right now, however, with his call for a revolution to meet violence with violence suggesting it’s due time to respond to the violence with violence, saying “We have the right to fight back!” Of course, the “your” in his message below is the police. As long as messages like this are sent out, Minneapolis will continue to burn, experience looting, looters will be shot by shop owners and more people are going to get hurt.

That’s probably enough ramblin’ for today. There is so much more I could write about, but I’ll save it for tomorrow. Don seems to be on a roll today, so I know that there will be material to gab about later. It is such a beautiful day to waste sitting inside writing this stuff, I think I shall go wash one of the cars before the cocktail bell rings. This Memorial Day weekend caused me to do some thinking about the effects of war and what it does to a country and it’s citizens, not just from the loss of life, but what it does to communities and family, the economy, the psychological toll, the loss of humanity. But what I most thought about was, what if we were to be at war tomorrow under this current administration. We have a Commander-in-Chief who has demonstrated over the past four months that he in no way is capable of leading a country in a crisis situation. I have the fear that foreign adversaries are slobbering all over themselves at our current state of affairs and are thinking what an opportune time to strike. They know that our highly regarded and experienced top level military leaders and intelligence officers have been forced out by this “stable genius” who knows more than his generals, anyway. I’m not sure we have allies any longer, as they have all been bullied, ridiculed, and feel they are “at the back of the bus” behind tRumps lovers, Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un. In wartime a country like the United States has to rely on men and women to answer the call to arms. When we have a leader, however, who has said about our military, “we don’t know how to win anymore,” basically disrespecting our veterans who gave it their all in Iraq and Afghanistan, I’m not sure there will be a stampede to the various recruitment offices. Even in the middle of a global pandemic we are seeing our enemies emboldened and carrying out missions to see what the response from the U.S. is, such as Russian fighter jets coming into our air space, Iranian war ships harassing our naval ships, North Korea doing more nuclear testing, and individual terrorists trying to attack military facilities like last week in Texas, and earlier in Pensacola, Florida. When tRump continues to tweet crazy s**t to his base and he get’s no pushback from the GOP, then leaders all over the world see that we have a functional illiterate in charge with a short attention span and no knowledge of how diplomacy is supposed to work, and that, comrades, puts us in a very dangerous position.

I saw this morning that White House economics adviser Kevin Hassett referred to American workers as “human capital stock” and that they were ready to get back to work. Some polls I have seen don’t support that, as many workers don’t feel safe going back to work at this time, especially when we have not flattened the curve and are seeing many new cases daily in some areas of the country. Does this surprise you? This pretty much is in line with the apathy and lack of empathy by this administration throughout this pandemic. Hassett also called the requests for additional funding coming from states “absurd” and “radical.”

I know Memorial Day is a day to honor those armed forces members who gave their life defending our country and Veteran’s Day is to honor all veterans, but I want to give a shout out today to the young female sailor and her colleagues who helped thwart Thursday morning’s attempted attack at the naval station in Corpus Christi, Texas. An armed terrorist tried to speed through a security gate at the base and then opened fire on a sailor who was manning the entrance to check ID’s. The sailor was shot in the chest by the terrorist, but received only minor injuries due to the kevlar vest she was wearing. After being hit and knocked to the ground, she was able to roll over and hit an emergency switch that raised a barrier preventing the shooter from getting on base. Other navy personnel were then able to shoot and kill the Syrian born gunman, who appears to have been a supporter of jihadi ideology. The female sailor’s name has not been released, but is back home and doing well. Their heroic actions undoubtedly saved lives on the base that day.

Boy was I bamboozled the last couple of days. I was in agreement with those folks who were of the opinion that if tRump was out golfing we would have a respite from the tweets. He showed us, however, that a game of golf doesn’t have to slow down the tweeties, you can tee up and be teed off at the same time. How this guy is supported by any moral, intelligent, ethical, religious, and compassionate member of society, I will never know. There are people I know who would be washing their kids’ mouth out with soap or timing them out for anything that closely resembles the crap coming out of Donnie’s mouth or his tweets. In the course of about 48 hours he managed to retweet a tweet calling Hillary a “skank;” shared a tweet making fun of Stacy Abrams’ weight; mocked Nancy Pelosi, suggesting she drinks booze on the job and should have her mouth taped shut; continued to push the conspiracy theory that Joe Scarborough had something to do with an intern’s death; and played “twitter tennis” with his former AG Jeff Sessions. Instead of showing any sort of empathy for the loss of 100,000 lives and saying or tweeting anything that would come from a leader trying to heal the nation, he continued with his modus operandi of being a divisive leader and stirring the pot. It has taken only three and half years to nearly take this country apart, how long will it take to put America back together again? And for the members of his cult who say he is Making America Great Again, their day of reckoning is coming.

At last, a nice sunny day up here on the mountain after a week of pouring down rain and temperatures not getting above 50 degrees. It would be a great day to go golfing — so he did. Now, I’m not getting my panties all in a wad because he is working hard, after all, and deserves a break from all he is doing to MAGA. I’ve read some really doozy interactions on Facebook this morning on this topic. The ones I most agree with are, “hey, at least we don’t have to be bombarded with his tweets.” My biggest question though, what church did he attend this morning?

FedEx update: Last night I get another email from FedUp and they again say that on Friday they tried to deliver, but no one home and they would deliver the next business day, Wednesday, May 27th. It is an out and out lie. They did not try to deliver and I was home the entire day. Plus, how the hell do they get next Wednesday as the next business day. Yes, Monday is a holiday, but the next business day would be Tuesday. Instead of FedEx they should be F***upExpress. Anyhoo, I did a post on Facebook Friday night and find that I’m not the only one disgusted with them. So yesterday I emailed the winery that is sending me the wine and they emailed me back this morning with this perfect response, “Hi Mike: not the news a winery likes to hear. So sorry. It appears that the Troutdale Fedex distribution center is having issues. We will contact our Fedex agent on Tuesday to handle the situation. Thanks for letting us know. Becky.” Now that my friends is an example of customer service. I’m still gunning for them and am strategizing my next steps. I’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, the missus has a full time job just keeping the hummingbird feeder filled. These little guys are going through our sugar supply like crazy. They sure are fun to watch, though.
