Good morning! When I got up this morning I did my usual routine and marched down the stairs to the kitchen to prepare my cup of coffee. Some mornings it is from the espresso machine, which is quick. Other mornings it’s a pour over, so I am at the kitchen window with the hummingbird feeder for a longer period of time, which is what today’s coffee prep was. As I stood pouring the hot water over the filter, I watched five hummingbirds eating out of the feeder at the same time for over one minute. Five was a record!! Unfortunately, when I moved to get my camera they exited the feeder. I’ll keep an eye out today and maybe have a photo for an upcoming post to show you I’m not lying…like the Buffalo, NY cop department or the POTUS. You see the camera doesn’t lie. I would bet you have seen the video or read about the 75 year old man in Buffalo who was shoved by a Buffalo police officer in riot gear during demonstrations on Thursday. Initially the cops said the man fell, but had to take that lie back after video showed the man being shoved to the ground and then blood coming out his ears. The camera doesn’t lie. This morning I see we have another General “stepping up to the plate.” General Colin Powell, a former secretary of state and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, called Trump a liar in an interview with Jake Tapper on CNN. “He lies. He lies about things. And he gets away with it because people will not hold him accountable.” I just don’t understand how lying has become an accepted behavior in society today. When I was a kid, if I lied I first got my behinder whacked with a wooden spoon (Mom) or belt (Dad), and then had to go to Confession and tell the priest, “Bless me Father for I have sinned…” Our friggin’ leader tells more lies in one day than I probably have in my lifetime, but he sure does like reading the Bible. Yea, Right.

So, in yesterday’s post I talked about it being a historic week with all of the events we saw happening and wrote about some of the events in negative terms. Today, I would like to look at the week from a different perspective…it was a week that just might bring some hope that changes are ‘a comin’. Isn’t that why all of those folks are in the streets across America? Not the looters and criminals trying to take advantage of the situation, but the people who are demonstrating for a change from injustice to equitable, righteous, and moral justice; affirming our freedoms, such as the freedom to protest; showing empathy for the families who have recently lost family and friends to the horrors of brutality. Beyond the burned buildings, looting, violent and criminal behavior by some in the crowds, it was a beautiful thing to witness. I’m sorry that it took the death of George Floyd for America to say that ‘enough is enough, this has to stop.’ And then when tRump said that George was having a great day up there and looking down at the great job numbers, the collective shock to that statement by the POTUS came from all over the country. The messages coming from the generals is another positive this week. When “his” generals start speaking out about the improper use of the military against American citizens and you see statements like, “We are witnessing the consequences of three years without mature leadership,” then you know that sane people are starting to get fed up with what this guy is doing to America and the revolution may lead to the downfall of the “Emperor.” Even the secretary of defense showed he had come cojones defying his boss and sending troops back to their bases. To end the week, on Friday the Portland Press Herald in Maine wrote an editorial asking the President to resign. It begins with, “President Trump: We’re sorry that you decided to come to Maine, but since you are here, could you do us a favor? Resign.” And the editorial ends with, “America needs to heal again. Please resign now, and let us begin.” Read it here. Thank you Portland Press Herald for your spot on assessment and may other newspapers across the country follow your lead.

Got ribs smokin’ on the Big Green Egg so I will have to end these ramblings for now and go tend to them. Keep smilin’. Ziggyman
