This Memorial Day weekend caused me to do some thinking about the effects of war and what it does to a country and it’s citizens, not just from the loss of life, but what it does to communities and family, the economy, the psychological toll, the loss of humanity. But what I most thought about was, what if we were to be at war tomorrow under this current administration. We have a Commander-in-Chief who has demonstrated over the past four months that he in no way is capable of leading a country in a crisis situation. I have the fear that foreign adversaries are slobbering all over themselves at our current state of affairs and are thinking what an opportune time to strike. They know that our highly regarded and experienced top level military leaders and intelligence officers have been forced out by this “stable genius” who knows more than his generals, anyway. I’m not sure we have allies any longer, as they have all been bullied, ridiculed, and feel they are “at the back of the bus” behind tRumps lovers, Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un. In wartime a country like the United States has to rely on men and women to answer the call to arms. When we have a leader, however, who has said about our military, “we don’t know how to win anymore,” basically disrespecting our veterans who gave it their all in Iraq and Afghanistan, I’m not sure there will be a stampede to the various recruitment offices. Even in the middle of a global pandemic we are seeing our enemies emboldened and carrying out missions to see what the response from the U.S. is, such as Russian fighter jets coming into our air space, Iranian war ships harassing our naval ships, North Korea doing more nuclear testing, and individual terrorists trying to attack military facilities like last week in Texas, and earlier in Pensacola, Florida. When tRump continues to tweet crazy s**t to his base and he get’s no pushback from the GOP, then leaders all over the world see that we have a functional illiterate in charge with a short attention span and no knowledge of how diplomacy is supposed to work, and that, comrades, puts us in a very dangerous position.

I saw this morning that White House economics adviser Kevin Hassett referred to American workers as “human capital stock” and that they were ready to get back to work. Some polls I have seen don’t support that, as many workers don’t feel safe going back to work at this time, especially when we have not flattened the curve and are seeing many new cases daily in some areas of the country. Does this surprise you? This pretty much is in line with the apathy and lack of empathy by this administration throughout this pandemic. Hassett also called the requests for additional funding coming from states “absurd” and “radical.”

  1. Love the visuals.
You are right. We are ripe for the picking. Partly because we have a 10 year old in the White House but, maybe more dangerous, we have a citizenry deeply divided with no clear direction or resolve. Even unwilling to protect each other at the grocery let alone the front lines.
    Very scary!!
